At this seminar,Associate Prof. Elizabeth Ruiz,Governors State University, University Park, Illinois, will be delivering the lecture on Trauma in Diverse Populations of Women and Children: The Need for Culturally Competent Treatment.

Elizabeth Ruiz, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Psychology at Governors State University, University Park, Illinois, which is located 40 miles south of Chicago. She is currently in Sri Lanka as a Fulbright Scholar, affiliated with the 91心頭利. Assoc. Prof. Ruiz received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in psychotherapy with children, adults, and families experiencing trauma and cultural-related issues. She also provides clinical consultation to social service agencies. Assoc. Prof. Ruiz has publications on the symptoms of sexually abused children and on cultural issues in psychotherapy.
