Launching Ceremony of two New Sinhala books authored by Senior Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa | Department of Sinhala
The launching ceremony for two new Sinhala books, 犇園犇犒犒犒犇園 犇巌犒 犒犒犇犒犇 犇劇蹢犒蹢犒 犇伍 犒犇準犒犇犒, 1948-2023 (Landmarks of Sinhala Language after Independence, 1948-2023) and 犒犒犇犒犇 犇犇犒犒犇 犒犒犇園犇材蹢 犇犇犒蹡死蹡犒犇 (Sinhala Spelling Dictionary – New Edition) authored by Senior Professor (Chair) , Head of the Department of Sinhala, Faculty of Arts took place on February 20, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the New Arts Theatre. Emeritus Professor J. B. Disanayaka chaired the event, while the Vice Chancellor of the University, Senior Professor (Chair) , presided over the occasion as the Chief Guest.
A large audience, including members of the Maha Sangha, several staff and Council members of the 91心頭利, government officials responsible for official language affairs, language scholars, teachers, and students from schools and universities, participated in the event. Mr Karunaratne Paranavithana and Mr Samudra Wettasinghe delivered brief speeches about the two books. The event was organized to commemorate International Mother Language Day celebrations on February 21.
